VOICE TO MANUSCRIPT

A first draft, spoken in your own voice.

Can I write a novel or memoir by speaking?

Yes. Speak the scene, memory, or passage you want to draft. SemaWrite turns that recording into readable, punctuated text and files your words into the manuscript you are building.

It is designed for a new or restarted novel or memoir, especially when speaking comes more naturally than facing an empty page.

01 · SPEAK

Begin with one scene or memory.

Record for up to 20 minutes at a time. You do not need to dictate formatting commands or plan an entire chapter before you begin. Tell the part of the story you can reach today.

02 · TRANSCRIBE

What happens to the recording?

The audio is used to make the transcript. The recording is deleted after successful transcription; the resulting words remain in your private manuscript.

03 · ORGANIZE

How does speech become chapters and scenes?

SemaWrite punctuates the transcript, forms readable paragraphs, and places the passage into the manuscript's chapter and scene structure. Your chapter-heading style carries forward as the draft grows.

04 · PRESERVE

Does SemaWrite write the book for me?

No. SemaWrite does not invent scenes or add prose you did not speak. It organizes the words you supplied so the draft remains recognizably yours.

05 · REVIEW

What helps me see what the story still needs?

Story Review becomes available after 1,000 manuscript words. It can surface open story questions for you to answer by speaking, without turning those questions into invented prose.

06 · KEEP

Can I keep the first draft outside SemaWrite?

Yes. You can read and export the draft as a .DOCX file. Reading and export remain available after a paid plan ends; the manuscript does not disappear with the subscription.
